Delivering the Promise: Architectural Education (2023–2026)
Delivering the Promise 2023–2026 presents the work of the UIA Architectural Education Commission (EDUCOM) over the course of the Triennale. It records the mandate given by the UIA President and Council and the programme through which the Commission carried it out: five international webinars, a pilot survey, a global survey of 345 accredited schools across 159 countries, the third edition of the UIA Award for Innovation in Architectural Education, and a targeted revision of the UNESCO-UIA Charter.
Together, this evidence-based body of work maps the state of architectural education at a pivotal moment, revealing a persistent gap between the values the discipline declares and the institutional capacity to enact them. The report closes by examining the limitations of the Triennale’s endeavours, outlining directions for the next Commission, and offering a reflection from the co-directors.
This is the most comprehensive and evidence-driven programme EDUCOM has undertaken to date — a candid, data-grounded account of where architectural education stands, and what remains to deliver on its promise.
