Guidebook for the 2030 Agenda Launched at the World Congress of Architects

The UIA, through its United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals Commission (SDGC),  has announced the publication of the 2026 UIA Guidebook for the 2030 Agenda, launched during the UIA World Congress of Architects in Barcelona.

The Guidebook presents a curated selection of architectural projects, plans and design initiatives from around the world that demonstrate how architecture contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Building on previous editions, it showcases innovative approaches across diverse geographical, cultural and professional contexts, illustrating the essential role of architects in addressing global challenges through the built environment.

The publication is the result of the 2025 international Call for Proposals, which invited architects and multidisciplinary teams worldwide to submit projects responding to one or more of the 17 SDGs. The initiative sought to present a global overview of architectural production, promote responsible design practices and create a valuable reference resource for students, educators, policy-makers and practitioners.

The 2026 UIA Guidebook for the 2030 Agenda highlights projects spanning architecture, urban and territorial planning, landscape architecture and design. Together, they demonstrate how the profession is contributing tangible solutions to issues such as climate action, social inclusion, resilient communities, biodiversity, cultural heritage and the responsible use of resources.
